Temporary Part-Time Legal Assistant (Estate Planning)

Location: Chesterfield, MO
Schedule: 20-30 hours per week
Duration: 3-6 Month Temporary Assignment

About the Opportunity

A well-established law firm in Chesterfield is seeking an experienced Temporary Part-Time Legal Assistant to provide support to its Estate Planning practice. This position will assist attorneys and help mentor current legal support staff who are newer to the legal field. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and brings prior estate planning and legal administrative experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal professional seeking a flexible, part-time role where they can make an immediate impact through both hands-on support and staff training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and legal support for estate planning matters.
  • Assist with the preparation, review, and organization of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related documents.
  • Maintain client files and ensure accurate document management.
  • Coordinate appointments, client communications, and attorney calendars.
  • Assist with document execution and file management processes.
  • Train and mentor legal support staff on legal procedures, best practices, and workflow management.
  • Answer questions and serve as a resource for less experienced legal assistants.
  • Help establish and maintain organized processes and procedures within the practice group.
  • Support attorneys and staff with special projects and overflow work as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of legal assistant experience required.
  • Prior estate planning experience is required.
  • Strong understanding of legal document preparation, client communication, and file management.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or supporting administrative staff is highly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Actionstep legal practice management software.
  • Prior experience in a small or mid-sized law firm environment.
  • Ability to identify process improvements and assist with workflow optimization.
